SUPINE
The purpose of the piece SUPINE is to address the conventional presumption that furniture is a functional one. That a chair is to be sat upon comfortably. with this piece that presumption is rendered defunct.
The actual function of this piece is to question the viewer in their conditioning of what furniture is the preliminary idea of a large carving blade, developed into that of a shape, with references to sword design. Thus causing the viewers to confront themselves with the notion that a piece of furniture can be used as a weapon. History reveals to us the customization of basic furniture items being used for the purposes of torture, a clear example of this was in the times of inquisition.
